Ernst Spiess, authorised mountain and ski guide, built in the 50's and 60's, a mountain tour programme based in Mayrhofen employing up to 12 mountain guides. In the early 80's, the ski school grew to employ over 170 ski instructors and was especially for the childrens ski school, world famous. The children ( Nicola and Uli Spiess ) were both active in the ski school after the end of their international ski careers. Uli took over the leadership in 1987 and today shows his guests on special request the best ski slopes in the Ziller valley.

In addition to the ski school, the Spiess family opened a ski rental shop in 1954, a high quality business which has today developed into 2 Locations.

		Uli and his wife Renate entered the restaurant trade in 1987 with the Ski hut on the Ahorn mountain which became the cosy mountain restaurant "Ahornhütte". This was followed by the "happy end" Bar-Cafe in February 2000, the popular Après-Ski meeting point directly opposite the Penken cable car station in the high street.
Meanwhile the next generation of the Spiess family is also looking after our guests in order to keep true our motto “ One-stop for quality and competence”!
